Hotel Congress Hosts 2nd Annual Night For New Orleans To Benefit Music RisingOn Saturday May 24h Hotel Congress hosts a Night For New Orleans, a benefit concert and crawfish boil to benefit Music Rising, a charity dedicated to rescuing the musical heritage of New Orleans co-founded by U2's the Edge, producer Bob Ezrin and Gibson Guitar Chairman and CEO Henry Juszkiewicz.

Hotel Congress Hosts 2nd Annual Night For New Orleans To Benefit Music RisingBuoyed by the success of last year’s inaugural Night for New Orleans, Hotel Congress has stepped it up this year with more food, more music and more “New Orleans”. The music will start early and go late and Cajun style cuisine will be served until it runs out. Highlighting the event are some of Tucson finest musicians and performers as well as Tucson only “official” Crawfish Boil - 300 lbs of live crawfish being flown in specifically for the event.

The event will also be the first of a summer of “green concerts” at Hotel Congress - all concert lighting and sound will be solar powered, as well all food served on “potato-ware”, 90 day bio-degradable flatware.

The live entertainment will include Mojo Gumbo, Tom Walbank, Black Leather Zydeco and the Bad News Blue Band. Cirque Du Sin will also perform a free Bourbon St themed fire performance, in conjunction with their Cabaret show running in the club that evening. An exclusive Epiphone Music Rising guitar will be autographed by all performers and auctioned off at the event with 100% proceeds going to Music Rising (www.musicrising.org).

Besides the live Crawfish, The Cup CafĂ© will be providing several other Cajun and Creole offerings - but if history is any indication, we are recommending people get here early as the Crawfish is a popular and rare treat in these parts. New Orleans’ Abita beer will be featured on tap for the evening as well to compliment the regional fare.

For the second year in a row Music Rising will be the beneficiary of the night’s donations and food revenue. Music Rising a campaign that was launched to rescue the musical culture of the Central Gulf region of the United States from the destruction caused by the catastrophic hurricanes of the summer of 2005 by replacing the musical instruments lost or destroyed in the deluge. Music Rising has aided over 2,700 professional musicians and nearly 50,000 students and parishioners to date. Music Rising is administered by the Gibson Foundation (www.gibsonfoundation.org).
