Daniel Jordan (vocals, guitar), Bran Kinsella (bass) and Shane Cooney (drums) recently stopped by Gibson’s New York Showroom to discuss their first album, talk about what it was like to win Best Live Act at the Global Battle of the Bands and share their love of Les Pauls. Before The Beatles, there was a band called The Quarrymen. The musical menagerie of John Lennon and his school friends was formed in 1956, inspired by the skiffle craze that was sweeping the country and the intoxicating allure of rock and roll. Over the next four years, the band would evolve, losing players here and there and constantly upgrading — first with the addition of a precocious young guitarist-singer named Paul McCartney and, later, with an even younger guitarist named George Harrison. Eventually, all of the original Quarrymen — save John — would fall by the wayside until only John, Paul and George remained.

San Diego pop-rockers Allstar Weekend have hit the big-time. After gaining fame on the Disney Channel special Disney’s N.B.T. (Next Big Thing), the young rockers were signed to Hollywood Records. The band – which includes singer Zach Porter, guitarist Nathan Darmody, bassist Cameron Quiseng and drummer Michael Martinez – released their debut album, Suddenly Yours, in October. Allstar Weekend recently stopped by Gibson’s New York Showroom for a few performances (including their new single, “Come Down with Love”) and to discuss the band’s love of Prince, Led Zeppelin and Gibson guitars.
