AUSTIN, TEXAS - Austin GuitarTown, presented by musical giant Gibson Guitar announces the latest installment of celebrity supporters. The arts project which consists of ten foot tall Gibson Guitar sculptures and showcase guitars painted by visual artists are now exhibiting through the city of Austin and will later be auctioned off for charity.
Internationally known celebrities, actors and musicians have joined in support of this very worthwhile project including ZZ Top, Billy Bob Thornton, Dennis Quaid, Kyle Chandler, The Dixie Chicks, Melissa Manchester, Radney Foster, Marcia Ball, Dwight Yoakum, Norah Jones, Patrice Pike, Lloyd Maines and Terri Hendrix, Chris Tomlin, Alejandro Escovedo, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Roky Erickson, Bruce Robinson and Kelly Willis, and ZZ Top. Additional celebrities will be confirmed throughout the project.
Austin's Mayor Will Wynn and Grammy Award Winner, Ray Benson, are co-chairs along with Willie Nelson and Coach Darrell Royal. Gibson Guitar Chairman and CEO Henry Juszkiewicz serves as Honorary Chairman.
These unique guitar sculptures have been artistically designed by local and talented visual artists and have been placed throughout Austin in front of the city's landmarks and businesses through the Fall of 2007. The sculptures will then be auctioned off benefiting four local charities: The Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM); The Austin Museum of Art (AMOA); American Youthworks; and the Austin Children's Museum.
